SHOULD THE HYPERTENSIVE BE DELAYED IN A CLINIC BEFORE THEY RECEIVE ADEQUATE SERVICE AND CHECK ON THEIR BLOOD PRESSURE?

Impatience sometimes worsens a high blood pressure. It is impossible to measure correctly an anxious person’s blood pressure. A fifteen to thirty minutes delay is needful for the correct measurement of a person’s blood pressure, that does not mean the hypertensive must be delayed deliberately in the clinic before they are treated. They really need more urgent attention and care than any other client. The good thing is that for a correct blood pressure to be measured a little relaxation is necessary in the hospital area.

IS DELAY OF PATIENT IN A HEALTH CLINIC NORMAL?
No, but a patient must learn to be patient. All hypertensive must learn to be calm. There are many reasons queues occur in hospital.

WHAT DOES ANXIETY DO TO A BLOOD PRESSURE?
Stress, fatigue, tension, sleeplessness and anxiety all increase already high blood pressure, therefore if your blood pressure was 155/105 mmHg before a prolonged argument it may become 185/115 mmHg soon after the disagreement. This is not likely say between 95/55mmHG and 130/80mmHg.

But it is appropriate to assert that anxious people do not do well for long in their anxiety state without developing a disturbing medical condition like high blood pressure. They may also develop smoother anxiety related disorder such as anxiety neurosis bipolar affective disorder, hyperemesis, gravidarum, etc.

SHOULD THE HYPERTENSIVE DANCE?
The hypertensive should have enough of any leisure if it is not strenuous, enjoyable and simple dance is okay, but excessive and prolonged disco modes may be harmful to the moderately hypertensive or the severely hypertensive.

WHAT DOES THE FIGURE OF THE BLOOD PRESSURE READING STAND FOR ?
A blood pressure of120/80mmHg connotes a systolic pressure of 120mmHg and a diastolic pressure of 80mmHG. It is read as one twenty-eighty. Click Here to learn more

WHAT DOES THE WORD SYSTOLIC MEANS?
The systolic pressure is the end pressure within the heart muscle chamber when it contracts to pump out blood around the body therefore during systole, the heart contracts. Click Here to learn more

WHAT DOES DIASTOIC MEANS?
The diastolic pressure is the end pressure with the heart muscle chamber when it relates after a beat of the heart ie. after pumping out a volume of blood , therefore the heart muscle relaxes during diastole.Click Here to learn more

WHY IS THERE NO FIXED NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE?

There is no fixed blood pressure level because blood pressure [BP] occur in range and it is subject to several variables,it is affected by physical activities like exercise and rest and physiological change like ageing and pregnancy attributes and gender affect it too much as weight and position of the body alter the usual blood pressure of an individual, and sometimes environment influences such as range have a whole lot molding to do about an unstable blood pressure level.

WHAT IS THE ACCEPTABLE NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE OF SAY MY LITTLE BABY?
With the use of appropriate method and instrument babies and little children should have a BP range 80/50mmHg to 100/60mmHg, when a child or a baby has an adult type blood pressure level such as 145/90mmHg, there is need for an adequate assessment for further care for that child.

WHAT DOES MMHG STAND FOR ?
The mmHg symbol is the abbreviation for millimeters of mercury, it is the standard unit world wide for referring to the pressure level of the heart pump mechanism.

What Is The Acceptable Normal Blood Pressure Of Adolescent and Young Adults?
No one between the ages of 8 or 12 and 30 should have a persistent blood pressure above 140/90mmHg, below the age of thirty the acceptable normal BPs should be between 80/50 mmHg and 130/85 mmHg.

THEREFORE A BOY OF EIGHT YEAR WITH A PERSISTENT BLOOD PRESSURE OF 140/90 OR MORE HAS HYPERTENSION?
Yes the boy has hypertension, ordinarily a blood pressure level of 140/90 mmHg may just be ideal for adult of forty –five years or more. But certainly not a boy of this age. The boy of ten or less with a blood pressure of 140/90mmHg or more has medical problems which require a thorough medical evaluation. Otherwise he is in trouble.Click Here to learn more

WHAT OF A BUSY MAN OF 45 YEARS WHO HAS A BP OF 140/90MMHG OCCASIONALLY?
There is no cause for alarm the busy man need to rest after every busy schedule and submit himself occasionally for a blood pressure monitoring by a qualified well groomed physician . That is all.Click Here to learn more

WHAT IS THE ACCEPTABLE NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE FOR AN ADULT?
If an adult is not depressed, is not pregnant, is not on drugs especially steroid and hormone, is not ill and he has no anxiety about pressing need a properly taken blood pressure reading at rest should be between 90/60mmHg and 140/90 mmhg (most people have a blood pressure range of between 110/65mmHg and 130/80mmHg and most children have slightly less BP level with appropriate apparatus).

HOW TO CHECK YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE BY YOUR SELF AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO YOU.

It is important every adult understand the need for an adequate blood pressure monitoring and this is why it is ideal everyone should be versed not only in the knowledge and the interpretation of a blood pressure check but also that it is very necessary all adult are knowledgeable about common medical disturbance that may affect their health.

So you need to buy blood pressure machine, then ask your doctor to teach you its use and the correct interpretation of the result you obtain [a well trained nurse health assistant health worker should be able to put you through also]

The care and the treatment of a high blood pressure patient really follows the age – long adage that "prevention is better than cure" because hypertension is one medical problem of a million that does not only need a thorough surveillance and the understanding of its disastrous consequence,it also needs an ideal care whenever it is detected in any person.

WHAT IS THE NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE?
There is no fixed blood pressure. This may sound strange but it is true that which considered normal even by the world health organization [WHO] is still I may be subjected to several variables such as exercise rest age environment and the state of the mind at the time the blood pressure was measured,[for any adult the world health organization recommend a blood pressure of 160/90mmHg or less otherwise the individual is hypertensive ]

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE C0NSULTATION FEES CAN BE HIGH,HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT?

It is only in the remote village and sub-standard lives settlement of the world that health has to be paid for by individual citizen in a normal set up,no one pays for his health and hence there is no question about the consultation fees, it is the duty of a normal government to see to the welfare of its citizenry.

But you need not fear the consultation, you may know you have a high blood pressure by checking it at home yourself you can do this by using any of the common blood pressure machines, you can get the assistance of any health personnel to teach you , but the correct interpretation of a blood pressure measured at home is the reason you should visit a doctor, a well trained doctor detects and interprets illness with ease.

He was trained to do so, he was trained to provide the most important and most appropriate counsel about your complaints just like the nurse was trained to assist all patient to be in the most comfortable state in their state of ill health while the pharmacist was tutored to give appropriate counsel about drugs,a medical practitioner has the obligation to give adequate treatment to enable a life to continue.

The main danger though is that self medication without doctor prescription is like attempting suicide because all drugs (including anti hypertensive)for high blood pressure are potential poisons, many have died not because their illness were too serious but because the drugs they bought over the counter themselves negate their continued existence.

IF THE INFORMATION GIVING TO ME BY THE DOCTOR I CONTACTED BECOMES CONFLICTING WHAT SHOULD I DO ?
All you need to do is to make sure you have a reliable family doctor who is fully competent in the proper care of heart disease and of the hypertensive, the doctor should be a consultant cardiologist or a good physician of repute who has been known to deal with clients with utmost safety.

This is because it is not all doctors that are very competent when it comes to the netty –gritty of heart disease (high blood pressure) and its care. Moreover opinions differ on many common disease and the idea of any good clinician is most likely to be acceptable to the majority of other clinician, therefore you must search for a good one.Click Here to learn more

IS THAT THE REASON HYPERTENSION IS CALLED THE SILENT KILLER ?

Yes in clinical medicine , there is hardly any dead condition that is without symptoms these symptoms occur possibly to alert and to help the individual sense the impending danger ahead .

But high blood pressure is the main exception to this rule, despite being a very deadly conditions, it has no specific recognizable symptoms and yet it is common .

Many of the other deadly medicine and surgical condition like diabetes mellitus [DM] pulmonary tuberculosis acute bronchial asthma begin prostate hypertrophy[BPH] cancer of the lungs [ca bronchus ]kidney disease end stage liver disease sickle cell anemia, meningitis anthrax, cholera, typhoid fever, hemorrhagic fever, fractured bone, pyomyositis bleeding disorder etc. all have equivalent for the afflicted to seek help early.Click Here to learn more

But hypertension is different, this is why it is tagged the silent killer and it has not refuted this appellation for decades. Click Here to learn more

OF THE TWO MAIN CATEGORISE OF HYPERTENSION -SYSTEMIC HYPERTENSION AND ‘PULMONARY HYPERTENSION – WHICH IS MORE DANGEROUS?

Simply put arterial [systemic hypertension is more silent and is the most dangerous hypertension than pulmonary hypertension these are the reasons pulmonary diseases are prominent complaints , the one who is afflicted with a lung [pulmonary]disease will certainly complain of a form of chest pain a kind of breathlessness, a form of irritating and disturbing cough, previous catarrh etc, many heart problem are silent even until the fatal damage is about to occur unless a competent hand to help in its detection.

And in respect of high blood pressure disorder it is unfortunate that the heart and the lung do work together as one unit,it is therefore sometimes difficult for many people to differentiate between a lung disease and a heart disease, strangely some doctor so called are bamboos.

This is partly because most illness of the heart affect the lung in disastrous way to the extent that even the incompetent doctor may become confused , so when their is, for example an acute adult respiratory distress syndrome [ARDS] occasioned by a a near fatal myocardial infarction [mi or heart attack] whose catalyst is either high blood pressure or an arteriosclerotic plaque of hypercholesterolaemia origin a hasty diagnosis of a lung disease like acute bronchitis or acute bronchial asthma may be entertained by the inexperienced house doctor this is because the symptoms of these disease are basically those of breathlessness and their signs are those of respiratory disease stigmata such as chest crepituus, central cyanosis and tacypnoea.

To the young physician or the inefficient doctor who may find it a big task to differentiate between cardiac asthma and bronchial asthma these are but symptoms and signs of respiratory [lungs]disease but not the illness which has no complaint, must have a way to express itself, heart disease tend to express themselves by simulating lung disease, heart diseases like high blood presure which is very silent until it is about to cause a near fatal disaster has but one way to complain through the lungs!hypertension is always silent until it has caused -it is about to cause heart attack or acute respiratory distress syndrome –otherwise know as cardiac asthma or acute pulmonary oedema.

On the other hand all lung disease have immediately and easily recognise symptoms and signs, pneumonia, for example disease will always produce some chest pain and cough if it must be called pneumonia, tuberculosis of the lung has its own characteristic ways expressing itself both to the layman and to the physician, emphysema thoracic, pleurisy flail, chest hyothrax, pnenmothrax haemothprax, pneumoconiosis bronchitis, bronchiectasis bronchial asthma, brochial carainnoma and other notable lung disorder have their ways of expressing themselves.

In every respect therefore the silent symptomless hypertension which is systemic arterial hypertension is the more dangerous disease than the more outspoken lung disease called pulmonary hypertension. Click Here to learn more

HOW CAN I DIFFERENTIATE ARTERIAL FROM PULMONARY HYPERTENSION

The differentiation between these two clinical conditions is the doctors problem, however it is important to know that pulmonary hypertension brings on difficulty with breathing and it is a lung disorder but arterial hypertension is a heart and blood vascular disease and it is symptomless.

YOU MEAN HYPERTENSION IS SYMPTOMLESS?

Yes hypertension does not even cause headaches. When headaches occur in the undiagnosed hypertensive , two things may be happening. One problem is the onset of a complication of the high blood pressure itself and the likelihood of the onset of an entirely new disease .

But do not confuse the majority of people with very high blood pressure of about 170mmhg systolic or more and 110mmHg diastolic or more are bound to suffer from occipital headaches at interval and may experience disturbed sleep patterns too [Occipital headaches are often experienced as heaviness and dull early morning aches about the junction between the back of the head and the neck ]

The headache is no symptoms at all but it is the evidence of an impending complication of high blood pressure. This means that headaches in high blood is symptoms of an impending brain damage,e.g stroke and when the hypertensive complain of central chest pain , the hypertensive is only about to have a heart attack. When the same hypertensive has repeated palpitation, his problem is not just illustration of the high blood pressure but an invitation to heart failure.

Hypertension has no symptoms , otherwise many who have had the ugly aspects of high blood pressure disorder would have had specific complaints ever before it causes disasters like stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, heart failure, sudden death etc. Many who have died from any of the foregoing would have long complained about their impending doom and these unfotunate folk might have been saved if hypertension had enough notable symptoms!
